Windsor House of Tea - Astoria, OR

I don't know why I don't come here more often, especially since I live in Astoria!

It is not just fine tea and outstanding food that is served here.  You are treated to a vacation from daily life the moment you enter the tea room.  It's easy to spend a couple of hours languishing over delicious tea and delicate, scrumptious food at The Windsor.

My favorite menu offering is the Ploughman's Plate.  Tough not a very romantic sounding menu item name... it just oozes romance and charm for your eyes and palate.  It's offerings include savory and sweet, hot and chilled.  Just under $10, it's a bargain!

The ambiance and decor is charming and relaxing, like a day at the spa!  The Windsor House of Tea is upscale, yet unpretentious.  Service is attentive and friendly.

Urban Cafe - Astoria, OR

My first post will be about my favorite restaurant of all time... T. Paul's Urban Cafe in Astoria, OR. To get things rolling, I will just repost a review I wrote in Citysearch (Portland). Along with my review is another worth reading.

A must eat!

Fresh and exciting food, service, decor. We go once a month! Large portions... you NEVER leave hungry. Down to earth owners and service staff. They make you feel good about eating there and truly appreciate your biz. Decor is warm, hip and cozy... patrons range from the high school hip to the 70+. Jeans & flannel... to theatre going fancy duds.

Prices are reasonable. Pennies when you figure the food is exceptional and you get large portions. Specials run around $16.

Great specials... lots of local foods and seafoods, lamb, roasts, chicken. Nothing is fried. Live music on Friday's and Sat's. Nice... not too loud, always something interesting and different. The UC is great for the tummy, the eyes, the soul and spirit, and the ears. Tummy Candy, Eye Candy, Soul Candy! The UC is a MUST if you live or visit in the Columbia Pacific region.

Cons: Not open 7 days a wk.
Overall user rating: Highly Recommended

On a sidenote... The UC is now open 7 days a week, though I don't know if that's just during Astoria Sunday Market. Phone them to be sure.
